My family moved to Midland in December of 2005 when my husband accepted a position with Dow Corning. I have two children. Cole is in middle school and Ryleigh is in elementary school. I grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia. I enjoy designing jewelry and host the jewelry design club for Newcomers in my home. I also love photography and usually have a camera around my neck everywhere I go. I found the Midland Newcomers online and joined in 2006. I’ve really enjoyed making new friends and have participated in some fun activities. Midland has so many wonderful things to offer its community. My favorite place in town is the Midland Community Tennis Center and we were recently voted TOP TENNIS TOWN USA! Other great places are the Chippewa Nature Center, Dow Gardens, Dow Public Library, Midland Center for the Arts and these are just a few! |

I am originally from the small town of Hamilton, Scotland. I have been in the U.S. for 20 years and have lived in Northern California, New Mexico, Chicago and, for the last 3 years, in Midland. My husband Raef and I have been married for 9 years and have 2 children, Eilidh, 6 years, and Hana who is 4 years old. I was introduced to Newcomers when my neighbor, and now our President, arrived at my door the day after I moved in with cookies, a typed up guide to Midland she had put together for me and an invitation to drive me to the next Newcomers meeting! I hope in the next year we can pass that hospitality on to all who walk through our door. |

I’m Shari Anderson; I’ve been married to my wonderful husband Jeff for 13 years and we have two kids. Our daughter Jessie started Middle School this year at Jefferson and our Son Jake is in 3rd grade at Cook. A year ago my husband took a job with Dow Chemical and we moved to Midland from Eugene, Oregon. We think Michigan is pretty nice and we even survived what the locals say was “one of the worst winters ever” without any problems but we do miss the beautiful Pacific Northwest. There is truly no place like it. My interests include photography, scrapbooking, jewelry making, altered art, and basically anything artistic. Our family loves to camp and travel. One of my “bucket list” items is to visit all 50 states at some time in my life. I’m half way there with 25 under my belt!!! I look forward to being on the board of the Newcomers this year and know that we will all have a great time socializing and getting to know one another better. |

| | Pam Page I originally moved to Midland in 2006. I had lived in Arkansas my entire life other than a few years in Texas. Moving to the North was quite a culture shock (brrrr) I recognized what a great town Midland was and all the things it has to offer, yet I still prayed that God would send me to a warmer climate! After being in Midland a year, our family moved to Shanghai, China (be careful what you pray for!) We lived in China for one year and moved back to Midland in 2008. I guess it's my destiny! I have a wonderful husband, Randy, who works for Dow Chemical. You can either find him out hunting or on the golf course. My daughter is a senior at Dow High and she also takes classes at Delta College (she is in the dual enrollment program.) My son is in 8th grade at Northeast. Our family enjoys camping, skiing, playing cards/board games, and salmon fishing. We also enjoy the wonderful parks in Midland and jogging/walking/biking the rail trail. I heard about Newcomers from people I worked-out with at the Midland Community Center Gym. This is my first year to serve on the board. I look forward to making new friends and enjoying the fun activities we have planned this year. |
